MARK OLICH

Biografie:

Mark Olich wurde 1974 in Omsk, Russland geboren. Seine erste Ausbildung absolvierte er im Bereich theatralische Malerei, Grafik und Szenografie. Zwischen 1994 und 2000 beschäftigte er sich vorrangig mit Malerei und nahm an vielen Ausstellungen im Bereich Malerei und Grafik teil. Seit 1999 arbeitet er am Mariinsky-Theater, anfangs als Bühnenbildner und später als Theaterfotograf.  2002 wurde die Fotografie ein zentrales Arbeits- und Ausdrucksmedium für ihn. In den führenden Theatern Russlands filmt er und arbeitet mit unabhängigen Ballettgruppen zusammen. Zusätzlich kooperiert er mit verschiedenen Festivals für klassischen und zeitgenössischen Tanz. Seit vielen Jahren macht er persönliche Shootings mit weltbekannten Ballettstars, z.B. Diana Vishneva und Ulyana Lopatkina. Er filmt exklusiv für die bekannte Vaganova Russian Ballet Academy. Mark Olich versucht mit Fotografie Menschen zu verstehen.

Er fotografiert TänzerInnen bei den Proben, während die Aufführungen noch im Entstehungsprozess sind. Er hält die Beziehung zwischen Choreografen und KünstlernInnen fest. Seine Fotografien zeigen die Grenze zwischen internen Abläufen und inneren Gefühlen im Backstagebereich und der äußeren, öffentlichen Performance. Der Betrachter seiner Fotografie kann den Unterschied zwischen gewöhnlichem Menschen und Bühnenhelden sehen. Olich ist außerdem Mitglied der Union der Künstler Russlands und übt gelegentlich auch Lehrtätigkeiten aus: 

Bsp. "Workshop of Theatre Photography" im Rahmen von Dance Open und Kontextfestivals in Moskau und St. Petersburg und der Kurs "Theaterskizzen" für NordPhotografyWorkshops. Seit 2005 beschäftigt sich Olich intensiv mit individuellen Druckmethoden auf verschiedensten Oberflächen. Die Ausstellung in der Galerie STP zeigt malerische Ballettszenen auf handbeschichtetem und koloriertem Aquarellpapier.

Mark Olich was born in 1974 in Omsk, Russia. He completed his first training in the field of theatrical painting, graphics and scenography. Between 1994 and 2000 he was primarily concerned with painting and participated in many exhibitions in the field of painting and graphics. Since 1999 he has been working at the Mariinsky Theater, first as a set designer and later as a theater photographer. In 2002, photography became a central medium of work and expression for him. In the leading theaters of Russia, he films and collaborates with independent ballet companies. In addition, he cooperates with various festivals for classical and contemporary dance. For many years he has been doing personal shoots with world-famous ballet stars, e.g. Diana Vishneva and Ulyana Lopatkina. He films exclusively for the well-known Vaganova Russian Ballet Academy. Mark Olich tries to understand people with photography.

He photographs dancers at rehearsals while the performances are still in the process of being created. It captures the relationship between choreographers and artists. His photographs show the boundary between internal processes and inner feelings in the backstage area and the external, public performance. The viewer of his photography can see the difference between ordinary man and stage hero. Olich is also a member of the Union of Artists of Russia and occasionally conducts teaching activities: For example, "Workshop of Theatre Photography" as part of Dance Open and context festivals in Moscow and St. Petersburg and the course "Theatre Sketches" for NordPhotografyWorkshops. Since 2005, Olich has been working intensively on individual printing methods on a wide variety of surfaces. The exhibition at the STP Gallery shows picturesque ballet scenes on hand-coated and colored watercolor paper.
